Vivienne Watson

Graduated from College of Arts Science &Technology with a Diploma in Pharmacy in 1978, and was registered by the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica in 1979. She attained a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (B. Pharm.) from the University of Technology (UTECH) in 2002.

Career spanned various areas of pharmacy. First job was at Mayfair Pharmacy (1979-1982) and then at the Kingston Public Hospital (1982-1985).

Vivienne Watson held the position of Pharmacy Manager at Eureka Medical Centre. In 1990 was employed to H.D Hopwood & Company Limited as Pharmacist and was promoted in 1991 to the position of Sales Coordinator answering directly to the Pharmaceutical Manager. Attained the position of Pharmaceutical Manager and served during the period 2005-2008.

She has been an active member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica  (PSJ) since student days and served in many positions including secretary, during the presidency of  Dr. Grace Allen-Young; was Retreat Coordinator for many years. In 1999 was elected President of the PSJ serving in this position for three terms.

She is an active member of the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists (CAP) and served in the capacity of Commonwealth Pharmacist Association Country Representative, 2007-2012

During the tenure as PSJ president, was involved with the Ministry of Health in the introduction of the National Health (NHF) programme to retail pharmacies

She was involved in the computerization of pharmacies through the AIS system.

Along with Dr. Grace- Allen Young and Mrs. Grace Muir Hector, prepared a successful bid for Jamaica to host the CPA conference 2003.

Mrs. Watson continues to actively participate in PSJ activities. Presently serves on the Continuing Education Committee and Magazine Editorial Committee
